Permits for $15.2 million worth of work were taken out in May, according to a city staff report.
At $9.1 million, new home construction led the way. It was spread over 17 permits.
As well, a permit for a new $3.5-million bulk plant at 1077 Terminal Blvd. was issued.
Permits for other significant projects included $750,000 worth of alterations to a stand-alone building at Pine Centre Mall, $444,000 worth of alterations to a home at 1600 Fifth Ave., $180,000 worth of renovations to a seasonal display area at Best Buy at 3900 Walls Ave., and a new $175,000 building at 5338 Hartway Dr.
Year-to-date, the total stood at $55.2 million over 181 permits as of the end of May, up from $34.3 million over 166 permits by the same point last year but down from $62.8 million over 163 permits by the end of May 2016.
