Building permits for $4.9 million worth of work were taken out at city hall last month.
That's well up from just under $2 million last year and just under $3 million the year before.
The year-to-date total stood at $110 million, up from $96 million last year but down from $129.6 million by the same point in 2010.
Looking at new single-family homes, five permits for $1.1 million worth of work were taken out in November, boosting the year-to-date total to 111 permits and $28.1 million. By the same point last year, the total was 101 permits for $24.5 million and by the end of November 2010, it was 119 permits for $28.7 million.
In all, 52 building permits were taken out last month, raising the year-to-date total to 546, compared to 519 by the same point last year and 624 for 11 months of 2010.
Here's a look at the larger projects for which permits were issued last month:
- A 15-unit townhouse complex worth $1.2 million and a 10-unit townhouse complex worth $800,000, both at 4334 Fifth Ave.
- An upgrade of the fire alarm and sprinkler system in the Oxford Building at 280 Victoria St. worth $475,00.
- A 5,500-square-foot cold storage building for James Western Star at 5239 Continental Way, worth $390,000.
- $300,000 worth of tenant improvements and an HVAC upgrade for environmental offices at 3690 Massey Drive.
