Budget committee seeks input

Victoria is calling on Prince George for budget advice. This fall, the nonpartisan Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will tour the province asking for input on how the provincial government ought to spend taxpayers' money.

This fall, the nonpartisan Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will tour the province asking for input on how the provincial government ought to spend taxpayers' money. The dates for northern B.C. are:

- Fort St. John Oct. 3

- Quesnel Oct. 3

- Prince Rupert Oct. 15

- Kitimat Oct. 15

- Smithers Oct. 16

- Prince George Oct. 16

This year's consultation process will include public hearings in 19 B.C. communities and videoconference sessions covering an additional three locations (including Dawson Creek). The public is invited to attend a public hearing, send a written submission, respond to the online survey, or submit a video file.

The public's input is used to form the upcoming provincial budget and influence overall decision making by members of the provincial legislature.

The deadline for public input is Oct. 18. The committee will release its report by Nov. 15.
