Police arrested four suspects Tuesday night after they were called to the scene of a break and enter at a Prince George home.

Told four males were seen attempting to gain entry through a second-storey window, Prince George RCMP converged on the location, Mounties said, and when the suspects failed to obey commands, police entered the home.

RCMP said two fled out the back door but were apprehended with the help of a police dog after a brief chase and two others were taken into custody without incident.

A loaded prohibited rifle, ammunition and other evidence was seized. The two suspects who tried to flee were found to have arrest warrants, RCMP said.

"The Prince George RCMP will continue to use all our resources to target those persons that choose to live a criminal lifestyle" Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "Further, we encourage all members of our community to immediately report suspicious activity to police. Without information from the public, these arrests would not have been made and we would not have seized the prohibited firearm."
