At 4:23 a.m. Tuesday Prince George RCMP received a report of a break and enter at the BX beer and wine store located on the 400 block of Carney Street.
Police attended and observed a vehicle leaving the parking lot. Upon activation of emergency
equipment by police officers, the driver of the vehicle began to drive erratically, including through a
red light, and did not stop for police.
A short time later the vehicle, a stolen white 1991 Plymouth Acclaim, was located near 17th Avenue
and Juniper Street. The driver was exiting the vehicle when officers arrived. A foot chase ensued.
The male was combative towards officers as he attempted to flee. Officers arrested the male
approximately one block from the stolen vehicle, near 17th Avenue and Queensway. In the vehicle
were several bottles of liquor police believe came from the BX beer and wine store, as well as
modified tools police believe were used to gain access to the business.
Several charges including break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession of break-in
instruments, dangerous driving, assault peace officer and obstruct peace officer have been
approved by Provincial Crown Counsel against 51 year old Prince George resident, Robert Henry
Wiebe.
Wiebe is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
