Boulding, Florell bringing home Canada Games medals

Cody Boulding is coming home from Winnipeg sporting a piece of Canada Summer Games hardware.
The 17-year-old volleyball player from Prince George helped Team B.C. win an epic bronze-medal match Saturday over Quebec to guarantee a place on the podium.
B.C. won the match 3-2 (25-17, 25-23, 21-25, 24-26, 17-15).
The gold/silver also went to the limit. Ontario defeated Alberta 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21,16-14).
Callie Swan of Prince George wrapped up competition in cycling with an eighth-place finish in Saturday’s women’s criterium. Swan, 19, who now lives in Victoria, was seventh in the road race and sixth in the individual time trial.
In wrestling, Haley Florell of Mackenzie helped the B.C. women capture the team gold medal.
Overall, B.C. claimed 146 medals, second only to Ontario (212) and ahead of third-place Quebec (138), the best-ever showing for B.C. at the Canada Summer Games. The B.C. women won the softball tournament just before the closing ceremony Sunday for the record 146th medal, one better than B.C.’s previous record haul.
