Booth awarded order of merit

North District RCMP Chief Superintendent Rod Booth has been named a member of the Order of Merit for Police Forces. Booth was among 75 police officers named to the order by Governor General David Johnston during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

North District RCMP Chief Superintendent Rod Booth has been named a member of the Order of Merit for Police Forces.

Booth was among 75 police officers named to the order by Governor General David Johnston during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. Two others were promoted within the order.

Booth was named a member of the order, which recognizes exceptional service or performance of duty over an extended period, usually at the local or regional-provincial level.

Booth has been the district officer for the B.C. RCMP's North District, which comprises of 73 per cent of province since March 2011.

"This is a very prestigious award and we are very proud of Chief Superintendent Booth's leadership and commitment to all the communities in our district," said Insp. Peter Haring, who is the current District Operations Officer.
