Customers of Northside Water Services in Vanderhoof have been given the green light to drink their tap water again.

About 200 customers, including St. John Hospital, receive their water from the private company, which services residences and businesses on the north side of the Nechako River.

On Oct. 11 a sample from Northside tested positive for trace amounts of E. coli in the water and a boil water advisory was ordered. Another seven samples were sent to a testing facility in Vancouver late Monday and results from all seven came back clean on Wednesday afternoon.

"It is safe to say that it was sampler error, and none of the water was contaminated," Northside spokeswoman Anna Manwaring said. "We were taking extra precautions when sampling however in light of this advisory, we will be looking at more effective ways to avoid sampler error again."

There were no reported illnesses as a result of the one positive test.
