The body of a Prince George man who went missing two-and-a-half weeks ago was found in Takysie Lake over the weekend, North District RCMP said Monday.
Brett Smith, 36, who was reported missing Aug. 8, was located dead on Saturday.
Terrace Search and Rescue was helping Burns Lake RCMP with the search when the discovery was made.
Smith was reported missing after he failed to maintain regular contact with his family while in the area for work.
An abandoned boat on the north shore with some of his personal items inside was found in a subsequent search of the lake, 265 kilometres west of Prince George.
An extensive search by land, air and water over the next five days failed to locate the man.
Smith's death has been determined non-criminal and the case has been turned over to the B.C. Coroners Service.
