Prince George RCMP are continuing their investigation into the finding of human remains, discovered by police last Friday near LC Gunn Park on Oct. 8.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk, RCMP senior media relations officer based in Kelowna, said Tuesday, "I can confirm that investigators completed their examination of the human remains at the scene late Saturday, at which time the deceased was removed and transported to the Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital for post mortem examination.

"We are maintaining the scene. The autopsy is scheduled to be conducted Wednesday morning at Kamloops.”

“We have been receiving tips from the public that are being actively followed up on by investigators. "We are hopeful, as well, that if someone has not come forward yet, but may have information about this incident, that they will do the right thing by contacting us directly or anonymously” added Moskaluk.

If anyone has any information on this current incident or any other ongoing investigation regarding our recent or past missing persons and crimes against persons please call the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or their local police services. For those with information wishing to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On Friday evening police found the body of a female near one of the park's trails.

The discovery was made as a result of an unrelated investigation by plain clothes officers who changed their course to conduct a foot search, with an RCMP dog team, of a wooded area near the park where they made the discovery. It's an area known to be frequented by sex trade workers.

Police say the condition of the body indicates the female died fairly recently.

The discovery of the body, which has not yet been identified, follows on the heels of two recent reports of missing women in the city.

Natasha Lynn Montgomery, 23, who is originally from Quesnel, was last seen in late August. Cynthia Francis Maas, 35, was last seen Sept. 10. Both women are described as living high risk lives.
