Police found a body Wednesday inside a recovered vehicle belonging to a Prince Rupert man missing since Dec. 29.
Prince Rupert RCMP said a crane retrieved the submerged vehicle from waters near Galloway Rapids Bridge on Highway 16 in an area close to that coastal community. The identity of the deceased person discovered in the vehicle, which police said was a male, has not been released, pending confirmation by the BC Coroners Service.
RCMP also confirmed the vehicle, a black Volkswagen Jetta, belonged to Adam Moore, 26, who was last seen at a Prince Rupert convenience store in the early morning hours of Dec. 29. Moore's disappearance triggered an extensive, days-long water, air and ground search by RCMP, the Canadian Coast Guard, search and rescue groups and community volunteers.
Searchers discovered parts of Moore's vehicle on Sunday in the Galloway Rapids area.
The RCMP is asking anyone with information regarding Moore's disappearance to contact the Prince Rupert detachment at 250-627-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
