The weekly newspaper in Prince George is under new ownership, the publication's website is reporting as of Thursday evening.
The Prince George Free Press, which first published in November of 1994, has been sold by Black Press to a company listed as Prince George Publications Limited Partnership. Black Press has also sold Kamloops This Week, which debuted in 1988, and the Merritt Herald to a company named Thompson Rivers Publications Partnership Ltd.
Robert W. Doull is listed as the president of both companies, which claims ownership of 10 newspapers.
Kelly Hall, the publisher of Kamloops This Week, will take on the role of group publisher and general manager of the central interior publications.
The daily Prince George Citizen, the print media competitor to the Free Press, has been in continuous operation since 1916.
