Bikes looking for a good home are available this Sunday as part of the Prince George Cycling Club's bike swap and bottle drive.
The sixth annual event connects used bikes and equipment to those who need it as well as raise money for the club's many programs.
"Cycling in all forms is a very popular activity in Prince George. There are unlimited opportunities to ride for transportation, sport or recreation," said club swap co-ordinator Jillian Merrick. "A community bike sale is a great way to keep unused bikes from collecting dust in the garage and to help other cyclists meet their equipment needs affordably.
The event officially begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Moose Hall and wraps up at 2 p.m. Those looking to sell their bicycles and cycling equipment can drop off their items at the 663 Douglas St. location between 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday. The swap meet typically has 100 bikes of all shapes and sizes available for sale by club volunteers.
In addition to finding deals, attendees can also contribute to the club by bringing their recyclables for the bottle drive or purchasing items at the bake sale.
Over the past year, the cycling club has begun developing major projects as well as contributing almost $10,000 to expanded mountain bike trails. The club also organizes the annual Bike to Work and School Week, which returns to Prince George during the last week of May.
