Residents who heard a big boom Friday weren't just hearing things.

RCMP Sgt. Jason Keays explained that an RCMP member who was at the BCR Industrial site came across several bags of fertilizer "that he recognized as highly volatile."

"We called the Explosive Disposal Unit in Vancouver and they came up and disposed of it Friday afternoon," said Keays.

Police highly doubt that the fertilizer was intended to fashion any kind of explosive devices.

"We think it possibly came from a construction site, but was never disposed of in a proper manner," Keays said.
