BidCentral wins TechGREEN award

BidCentral, an online procurement process for construction projects, was awarded the TechGREEN award by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia earlier this month.

The award recognizes contributions to a 'green' economy and sustainable society.

The City of Prince George is the leading user of the service, accounting for half the projects posted through the owner bid management and bid submission applications.

"Once I took the leap of faith in BidCentral, it was clear to me that this technology will be the standard of construction procurement bidding," said the City's supply and fleet services manager Scott Bone.

"Our experience with this new technology has been positive, and we're now looking at supply contracts through BidCentral."

Ken Sasaki of Prince George-based IQ Builders Ltd. gave the service a high rating.

"I have been estimating, filling out tender forms and submitting tenders now for 30 years. We have come a long way from submitting our tenders two days ahead by Loomis, and then jumping on the Telex machine to make changes to our forms," he said.

"This is all a part of keeping our industry from being left behind in the Internet world. I would rate it nine out of 10. If I was low bidder, I would give it 10 out of 10."
