Know any expectant mothers due on Jan. 1? If you do, you might have an inside track to win big.

B.C. residents can bet online at PlayNow.com on which B.C. hospital will welcome the first baby of 2023. If the first B.C. baby of the year is born at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. in Prince George, the B.C. Lottery Corporation will pay out 33 to one. A successful $10 bet on UNHBC would pay out $330.

“This year’s odds-on favourite comes as no surprise with B.C. Women’s Hospital (3.5 to one odds) sitting as the current favourite on PlayNow.com once again, as it’s one of the busiest maternity care centres in the province,” a statement issued by the B.C. Lottery Corporation on Wednesday said. “A successful $10 wager on B.C. Women’s Hospital would pay out a total of $35. Prior to 2021, the last time B.C. Women’s welcomed the year’s first bundle of joy was in 2017.”

Other only northern B.C hospital included in the online game is the Fort St. John Hospital and Birth Centre (50 to one odds),

Residents can place their bets until 6 a.m. on Dec. 31.
