A trial before a jury came to an end even before it started on Monday after Chad Douglas Berry pleaded guilty to several charges from a March 2010 crime spree that started at an Oak Street home and ended in Cluculz Lake.
Berry pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault against two women with one of the charges reduced from aggravated sexual assault.
He also pleaded guilty to one count each of unlawful confinement, break and entering and committing an indictable offence, theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000 in relation to two vehicles, and two counts of uttering threats.
The remaining four charges against Berry - another count of break and enter to commit an indictable offence, a count of possession of stolen property and two counts of assault with a weapon - were stayed.
At one time, Berry faced 31 charges from a series of incidents he was alleged to have committed over March 11 and 12, 2010. The matter had gone to trial before a provincial court judge in January 2011 but was eventually canceled in favour of a jury trial in B.C. Supreme Court.
A jury of 12 people plus two alternates had been selected on Friday but was dismissed Monday when Berry entered the guilty pleas.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
