Trustee Tim Bennett has now added vice-chair to his responsibilities on School District 57's school board.
Bennett was acclaimed into the interim position at Tuesday's meeting after Brenda Hooker resigned from the role. Hooker was recently hired by School District 60 to be a controller in Fort St. John.
"Even though I'm here the majority of the weekends and I will still maintain a property in Prince George and it is my intention to continue my work on the board of education, I felt that the vice chair role is an important role in support of the chairperson," Hooker said.
"It's necessary for emergent issues to have somebody that's available sometimes at short notice to represent the district on various issues and with various meetings and various committees."
That person will now be Bennett until the board has its formal elections in December.
Bennett, now in his second term as trustee, has previously held the vice-chair position.
"I know trustee Hooker has worked doubly hard to make sure she follows all her obligations on the board and has done a great job with that," said chair Tony Cable before congratulating Bennett on his new position.
