A small fire on the north side of the Nechako River brought fire crews on Sunday morning for a few hours of work.

Assistant Chief Elden Gjerde said the emergency call came to Prince George Fire Rescue Service at about 11:20 a.m., dispatching 16 firefighters from four halls to the 5000 block of North Nechako Road.

"Although occupied at the time of the fire, all residents were out when fire crews arrived," said Gjerde. "Quick action by the owner and Prince George firefighters limited damage to the front bedroom of the home."

The preliminary damage estimate is $10,000. The fire is not considered suspicious and no injuries have so far been attributed to the fire.
