A 16-year-old boy has died in hospital after being stabbed in Kelowna on Thursday night (June 27).
Robyn-Iain Beauregard tells Glacier Media his son Elijah-Iain Beauregard died on Sunday evening at Kelowna General Hospital surrounded by his parents.
Police officers surrounded a parking lot near Water Street and Bernard Avenue, just before midnight and found a teenager in medical distress.
Beauregard says his son Elijah-Iain was stabbed.
“It's very overwhelming,” he says. “It's not looking good.”
His son, who is also known as Eli, is a Kelowna resident.
Beauregard and Eli’s mother are both by his side at the hospital and are pleading with anyone who witnessed what happened to contact police.
RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said one person was taken into police custody, but was since released. Police believe the suspect and victim were known to each other and the stabbing was a result of a dispute.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Kelowna RCMP and cite file number 2019-37951.
