Pat Bell, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation and MLA for Prince George-Mackenzie, will be on hand today at 11:45 a.m. at Pine Centre Mall (area near SportChek and the food court) to welcome the BC Place model tour as it stops in Prince George.
Featuring a 1:400 scale model of the revitalized BC Place, the Prince George stop is part of a province-wide tour to build public awareness of the revitalization and promote attendance at stadium events.
The BC Place model, part of a 100-square-foot audio-visual display, will be at the Pine Centre Mall until Saturday during regular mall hours. Tour staff will answer questions and receive comments about the revitalized stadium.
The first event at the revitalized BC Place is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 30, when the BC Lions host the Edmonton Eskimos. The Vancouver Whitecaps plan to play its first match at the stadium two days later on Sunday, Oct. 2 against the Portland Timbers. BC Place will also host the Grey Cup and the Vanier Cup in November this year.
