A province-wide state of emergency has ended.

Officials rescinded the order on Friday (Sept. 7).

It was put into place on Aug. 15 in response to the wildfires burning across B.C., and was extended once.

Cooler weather and progress in containing wildfires have helped on the wildfire front.

"This past week, there was a significant reduction in the number of properties under evacuation order and many residents are now returning home," reads a press release.

The province warns that even though the state of emergency has been cancelled, the wildfire season isn't over.

As of Friday morning, 485 wildfires are still burning, with 19 evacuation orders impacting around 1,994 individuals, plus 39 evacuation alerts affecting nearly 4,900 people.
