B.C.'s Lieutenant Governor Steven Point, who's also a member of the Sto:lo nation will address those gathered for the annual Rose Prince Pilgrimage in Lejac tomorrow at 7 p.m.

The pilgrimage takes place every second week in July on the grounds where the Lejac Residential School once stood. Lejac is a two-hour drive west of Prince George, between Vanderhoof and Fraser Lake.

Rose Prince attended and worked at the school and was known for her quiet and saintly life. She died of tuberculosis in 1949 at age 33. Two years later, when workers were transferring her casket to a larger cemetery, it broke open and they were amazed to discover her body hadn't decayed. In the Catholic faith, this is a sign from God that the individual is a saint.

The three-day pilgrimage is a time for singing and sharing and, for many, an opportunity to learn about Rose Prince, connect with the church, and experience healing and peace.

Father Jules Goulet, OMI, former pastor of St. Andrew's Parish in Fraser Lake, along with a local elder and childhood friend of Rose Prince, initiated the first pilgrimage in 1990.
