B.C. Liberal leadership candidate Christy Clark has proposed the province create a Family Day holiday in February.
She said it would give families a holiday break between New Year's and Easter, a period of 111 days without a holiday day.
"The central tenet of my leadership is putting families first and over the upcoming weeks I am going to unveil policies that deal with the economy, education, rural British Columbia and health that have a family-focus," Clark said in a statement today.
Added Clark: "I think Family Day would be a great chance for families to renew themselves and a reward for all the hard work that is done by B.C. workers."
She said the day would be modeled after similar family day holidays in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island.
