B.C. Hydro president opens Chamber of Commerce speaker series

The president and CEO of B.C. Hydro will be the first speaker in the Prince George Chamber of Commerce's breakfast speaker series.

Chris O'Riley will share "Power Pathways: Building B.C.'s Energy Future" at the Courtyard by Marriott on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 a.m. Attendance is free, with registration available online at pgchamber.bc.ca.

Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty speaks on Aug. 16, also at the Courtyard by Marriott. He'll provide an update on the current state of Canadian politics with the next election a year away. Admission is $30 for chamber members and $45 for non-members. Registration is online at pgchamber.bc.ca.

Darin Rappel, the acting officer in charge of the Prince George RCMP detachment, will be the speaker on Sept. 24. He'll provide an update on policing in the community. A venue for that event has not yet been set.

Mayor Simon Yu will offer an update on city council initiatives on Oct. 24. There has been no venue confirmed for this event.

In other chamber news, nominations in 15 categories are still being accepted on the chamber website for the 29th annual Business Excellence Awards, to be presented Saturday, Nov. 2 at the House of Ancestors.
