BC Coroners Service identifies victim of collapse

PRINCE GEORGE - The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a

man who died after collapsing on the ski slopes at Powder King Mountain

Resort on Jan. 13, 2013.

The man is Gregory Joshua Pichler, aged 52, from Fort St. James.

Mr. Pichler was skiing with several others at Powder King resort, located

about 195 kilometres north of Prince George. As he was skiing towards the

top of the mountain, he complained of feeling unwell, and then others

witnessed him collapse.

Despite extensive resuscitation efforts, Mr. Pichler was confirmed

deceased at the scene of the incident.

The BC Coroners Service is continuing to investigate this death.

Preliminary investigation shows no evidence of accident, suicide or foul

play.

The family of Mr. Pichler has been notified of his death. On behalf of

the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their

privacy at this difficult time.
