A B.C. Coroner’s Inquest into the 2014 death of John Robert Buehler is scheduled to take place in Prince George.
The death of Buehler, age 51, was reported to the B.C. Coroners Service on Sept. 17, 2014, following a police-involved incident at a remote cabin south of Valemount.
An inquest is a formal process that allows for public presentation of evidence relating to a death.
Inquests are mandatory for any deaths that occur while a person was detained by, or in the custody of, a peace officer.
The inquest is scheduled to take place beginning July 15 at the Prince George Courthouse starting at 9:30 a.m.
Presiding coroner Donita Kuzma and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses under oath to determine the facts surrounding this death.
The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.
In coroners Inquests the jury does not make any finding of legal responsibility or express any conclusion of law.
