Prince George firefighters were called to the scene of a fire in the 800 block of Carney Street on Sunday afternoon. Police were also needed to assist traffic safety during the incident.
"The first arriving engine company found a fire in a basement area bedroom. The residence was occupied by three people, none of which were injured," said Prince George Fire Rescue Service assistant chief Kevin Scobie.
Sixteen firefighters attended to the fire, coming from three fire halls.
"The basement bedroom sustained heavy smoke and fire damage," Scobie said.
No official cause was disclosed but discussions at the scene indicated the use of a trouble-light might have been a factor.
"Fire Investigators will be on the scene (Monday) to determine the cause of the fire," Scobie added.
It was the second major callout in as many days for the Prince George Fire Department. They were also alerted to a fire concern at Brink Forest Products on Saturday afternoon. That was a small fire apparently started by some welding activity, and the blaze was quickly put out with little additional damage.
