The victim of a shooting death in Barriere has links to B.C.'s Central Interior.
Carol Ann Sandercott, 61, died Monday from a gunshot still being investigated by RCMP. She had lived many years in the Burns Lake area.
"All those involved in the investigation continue to co-operate with investigators," said police spokesman Sgt. Rob Vermeulen.
The incident happened at about 3:40 p.m. that day. Emergency responders were called to a residence near the town of Barriere, where they found Sandercott seriously wounded. She succumbed to her injuries soon after arrival at Barriere Health Center.
"No arrests have been made," said Vermeulen.
Initial indications were, said police, that the shooting was accidental but the RCMP's South East District Major Crime Unit, Kamloops RCMP Forensic Identification Section, and BC Coroner Service are continuing with a full investigation.
Sandercott's funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Barriere Lions Hall.
