Barkerville Historic Town and Park will be hosting a free event for Family Day. All the action will take place on Sunday Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The day will include a kids’ activity centre and kick sled races for all ages and there will be hot dogs and hot chocolate.
“It’s shaping up to be a very fun day,” says Rocky Nenka, Barkerville Historic Town & Park’s Commerce and Indigenous Relations Manager.
“We are very thankful for this funding opportunity made possible by the provincial government and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. We really hope that people can make it out for some family fun, and to further show our appreciation, we will be offering a 2-for-1 sale on our annual passes for those who come out and want to get a head start purchasing their passes for our summer season.”
Barkerville’s summer season will run from June 3 to September 10 with exhibits, public programming, campground, accommodations and some shops and eateries open daily.
The free event was made possible thanks to support from the B.C. government which is hosting BC Family Day evets throughout the region.
Barkerville Historic Town and Park is located 81 kilometres (50 miles) east of Quesnel, BC at the end of Highway 26 and you can find more information on its website.
