The Barkerville Heritage Trust will receive $247,000 for an urgent infrastructure project at the provincial heritage site, said Kevin Krueger, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts in a recent news release.

Funding will be used to repair the dike protecting the site's sewage lagoon and for work on the water supply line crossing Williams Creek and Conklin Gulch, which will protect the historic site and ensure the reliability of the water.

The existing sewer system was constructed in the early 1980s and is located about three kms from the town site. The system is used by the town and one of three campgrounds at the site.
