New street banners, set for installation in July, will beautify the Hart community and Central Street.

The street banners are the result of an art beautification partnership between the City of Prince George and Hart Community Association. They were designed by Robyn Beauregard's senior art class at Kelly Road Secondary.

Forty-eight individual designs will be displayed around the Hart Highway and Austin Road intersection and eight will be showcased on Central Street between 5th Avenue and Highway 16.

The banners are seven feet long and 32 inches wide. They'll hang from poles along the streets.

"We are grateful for the participation of all those involved in this project," said acting mayor Murry Krause. "Art is a key component to any community and we are proud to expand on our beautification programs in the City."

"This undertaking was initiated by the Hart Community Association as a civic pride project for the Hart area," said Doug Hofstede, City Recreation Co-ordinator. "The City's Public Art Advisory Committee welcomed the proposal with open arms and looked at further ways of expanding it to include the bypass."
