Baldy Hughes receives $3.6M donation

TEG Master Partnership, a group affiliated with Vancouver-based real investment management company The England Group, will donate $3.6 million to the BC New Hope Recovery Society's Baldy Hughes therapeutic community and farm.

TEG Master Partnership, a group affiliated with Vancouver-based real investment management company The England Group, will donate $3.6 million to the BC New Hope Recovery Society's Baldy Hughes therapeutic community and farm.

The farm, which is situated 30 kilometres from Prince George, is a residence for men in treatment for substance-use disorders.

"This donation - officially received in December 2014 - will rank as one of the largest single corporate charitable donations made in B.C. in recent memory," the recovery society said in a press release.

"It is a compelling story of investors embracing the 'one per cent for the planet' credo, empowering us all to drive positive change."

TEG Master Partnership consists of 3,200 investors across the province. Each investor has an ownership interest in a real estate portfolio that includes 12 multi-family residential apartment complexes in Texas.

The group agreed to sell the portfolio in December 2014 and donate one per cent of the gross proceeds to the B.C. charity.

The official donation announcement will take place at the Baldy Hughes Legacy Endowment Fund celebration Nov. 26 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
