Jen Farrell, the author of a collection of short stories, The Devil You Know, will be at the College of New Caledonia during the Caledonia Writers' Series on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Room 1-306.

Farrell is a two-time winner of the Vancouver Courier fiction contest, recipient of the 2002 Maclean-Hunter Endowment Prize for non-fiction, and a contributor to CBC radio.

The stories in The Devil You Know are about life's defining moments, which are explored through the eyes of female characters. Family relationships, particularly between mothers and daughters, are a central theme of this collection. All families have secrets and things that are unspoken, but eventually these dark truths come to light, often in surprising and transformative ways, and that is rich fodder for fiction.

Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.
