The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges against a 30-year-old man after report of break and enter in Anahim Lake quickly escalated into an attempted murder investigation.
Maverick Anthony West remains in custody on nine counts, including attempted murder, assault and pointing a firearm, after RCMP in the community 320 kilometres west of Williams Lake were called to a 6600-block West Street home shortly before 5 a.m. on Sat., Feb. 1.
RCMP said they initially responded to a break and enter but found the home's residents visibly upset and told police a suspect had damaged their vehicle, forced his way into their home, destroyed property in the house and had pointed a firearm.
The victims identified the suspect as West, who police said is known to them, and he was found in another home and arrested without incident.
