Aided by an image from a security camera, Prince George RCMP arrested a "known offender" suspected of trying to shoplift from a liquor store.

RCMP said the apprehension was made on the morning of Fri., June 3, less than 24 hours after they were called to a 4100-block 15th Avenue liquor store where witnesses told police a man attempted to leave the store with a concealed bottle of liquor.

With the image in hand, police "quickly identified the man as a known offender."

"This is a good example of our police officers using their knowledge of repeat offenders to quickly identify and arrest a suspect," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.

Charge approval remains pending and the suspect was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
