Got dreams of winning a gold medal? Haven’t had the right opportunity to show off your skills? Were you inspired by the performances at the 2019 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships in Prince George last week?

If yes, you may be interested in a nation-wide combine that's making another trip to Prince George this weekend in hopes of finding Canada’s athletes of tomorrow through a series of challenges.

RBC Training Ground brings together young people, ages 14 to 25, regardless of sport or skill level, for the chance to prove their talents in front of officials, scouts, and 2012 Canadian Olympic medallist, Will Crothers.

The try-outs take place at UNBC’s Northern Sport Centre on Sunday, Mar. 3 from 9 a.m. to Noon.

Close to 30 local youth took part in the combine last year, with former UNBC Women’s Soccer player Tianna Pius receiving a second invite to a regional qualifier in Richmond.

Prince George and surrounding area athletes will be pushed to the limit in areas of strength, speed, power, and endurance.

If they perform up to expectations, they could be selected to test for one of a dozen specific sports.

They could also be invited to the National Training Ground Finals where more than 100 of Canada’s top young athletes will compete for funding and resources to pursue their Olympic dreams.

Prince George is the first of 35 cities on the schedule to host the event, and one of five B.C. stops (Victoria, Vancouver/Richmond, Langley, Kamloops).

Anyone interested in participating is asked to visit the RBC Training Ground website.
