There's an open house Friday at the Prince George Observatory to check out the Perseid Meteor Shower.

The Prince George Astronomical Society is hosting a free open house to the public tonight (Aug. 11), according to the group's Facebook page.

Viewing is dependent upon the weather, which is supposed to clear up tonight, the forecast states.

There will be a short talk at 9 p.m., followed by observations of the Perseid Meteor Shower, and possible telescopic glimpses of Comet C/2023 E1 (Atlas). Bring along a reclining lawn chair for comfortable viewing, the society urges.

The society’s observatory is located at 7365 Tedford Rd, off Blackwater Road, south of Highway 16 West.
