The Prince George RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in locating suspicious items in connection with a late-night robbery.

Last night, shortly before 11:30 p.m., a man entered the Westwood Drive Panago Pizza with a sawed-off shotgun. He demanded, and received, a quantity of cash before leaving the area on foot.

Police quickly responded to the call, the area was cordoned off and a police service dog was brought in to track the man. A suspect, armed with a sawed off-shotgun, was located and arrested by members of the perimeter team patrolling on foot on the gronds of Westwood elementary school.

A 31-year-old Prince George man remains in police custody, charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. The suspect is also bound by a court order prohibiting him from possessing firearms due to previous criminal convictions.

Police are continuing to search the Westwood area for a possible change of clothing used by the suspect and ask that members of the public who find any clothing or suspicious items contact the Prince George RCMP immediately at 250-561-3300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
