A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man facing a charge of sexual assault with a weapon after he failed to appear in Prince George provincial court in early October.

Vernon Bret Faithful, 23, is described as a First Nations man, 180 cm (5'11") tall, weighing 91 kg (201 lbs) with short hair and brown eyes.

Faithful was arrested July 17, a day after police were called to a 1900 Upland Street home where a woman alleged she awoke to find a man in her bedroom with a knife.

He fled when she screamed and put up a fight. The woman was then taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Faithful was later arrested at a home in the same block of Upland. He faces five other charges related to the incident: assault causing bodily harm; assault with a weapon; uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm; breach of an undertaking or recognizance and two counts of break and enter with intent to commit an offence.

He had been released from custody on a promise to appear the day before he was supposed to attend court on Oct. 9 for a first appearance.
