The Prince George Aquatic Centre was closed for the day Thursday due to an unexpected electrical issue.
“At this time, it is believed that a sprinkler head broke above an electrical panel and damaged the facility’s electrical system,” city spokesman Mike Kellett said.
“There were no injuries. All staff and guests have been evacuated from the building. Some city staff remain onsite to work with BC Hydro to cut the power to the structure.”
Aquatics staff were allowed to go home for the day.
“Crews and BC Hydro are not yet sure how much damage has been sustained by the building’s electrical system,” Kellett said.
“The sprinkler head will have to be replaced.
The damage was repaired Thursday evening and the pool will reopen today as normal.
The Four Seasons Leisure Pool is also closed for maintenance.
