A woman has been slapped with a pair of $230 tickets after a mask-related confrontation with staff at the Mount Timothy Ski Resort near 100 Mile House.
Police received a complaint on Dec. 28 at 12:50 p.m. about a 37-year-old woman, known to resort staff, who had entered the ski lodge without a face mask.
“The ski resort had clear signs advising customers that masks were mandatory inside all their buildings,” said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson of the North District RCMP.
“The woman had allegedly become confrontational with the staff, causing a disturbance at the resort. While she produced a medical exemption card, it appeared to lack information to assure its validity.”
The resort staff asked the woman to leave and not return without a mask.
She eventually complied and police were called after she left. RCMP did not attend the ski hill.
Officers spoke with the resort by phone and were provided more information, coming to the conclusion that a ticket could be issued.
Police made arrangements to meet with the woman at a location in 100 Mile House on Dec. 30 and served her the ticket, which alleges two offences at $230 each, for failing to wear a face covering and failing to comply with direction from an enforcement officer.
