The anti-HST petition has been signed by 10 per cent of all the 85 ridings in B.C.

Seventy-one of the ridings are over the 15 per cent mark and 600,000 people from all over B.C have signed the petition. "We're now comfortable that if we had to turn in the signatures, we'd make it anyway," said Mike Summers, Regional Organizer for Fight HST in the North.

Next, the petition will be reviewed by the Chief Electoral Officer and then referred to a committee on the Legislature.

"People need to be assured that the process will be followed," said Shirley Bond, MLA, referring to the petition review.

"I've had people tell me that we haven't done as good a job explaining why this is important and the benefits for the province...and I think we should have done a better job explaining the benefits."

The anti-HST campaign is winding down, but canvassers are still going door to door collecting signatures.
