UPDATE: Ambulance flips after collision with pickup truck towing boat

The early-morning crash happened at 15th Avenue and Carney Street

The intersection of 15th Avenue and Carney Street was closed to traffic on the morning of Friday, Sept. 5 after a collision between an ambulance and a pickup truck towing a boat on a trailer.

The ambulance came to rest on its side, with its back end against the truck, which left the road and was crushed against a fence. The boat was off its trailer.

Police say the occupants of the pickup truck left the scene, while the people in the ambulance were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Traffic was rerouted along Carney Street as investigators worked at the scene.

In a statement, Prince George RCMP reported that the crash happened shortly after midnight.

“Our initial investigation shows the Emergency Health Services crew was traveling through the intersection when it was struck by the pickup truck," stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer with the detachment. "The occupants of the truck did not remain at the scene of the incident. Police officers are seeking any information on who may have been in the truck and are asking anyone with information to contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line."

Police ask anyone with dash camera footage, cellphone video or video surveillance, or if they witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken with police, to call 250-561-3300.

The intersection will remain closed for a significant period today as police officers gather information from the scene, police stated.
