Every year around Valentine’s Day Amazon Canada does a deep dive into some sales data and decides which cities are “the most romantic.”

The company looks at sales data from Jan. 1, 2019 to Jan. 1, 2020 on a per capita basis in cities with more than 20,000 residents. The data looks at purchases of romance novels (both print and Kindle editions), romantic comedies, relationship books, jewelry and sexual wellness products.

Prince George ranked 18th in the 11th annual list.

For the last seven years, Victoria held the top spot, but this year that all changed. Fort McMurray climbs to number one from its previous number three standing to show that there's some competition for its western neighbour.

Fort McMurray, Alta. earned the top spot followed by Toronto and Yellowknife. Interestingly enough, Quesnel beat out Prince George by five spots, coming in at number 13.

This year there are also 14 cities, including Prince George, in the rankings that were not included on last year's list.
