Alleged sexual assault

Prince George RCMP were called to Pine Centre Mall Friday at about 2:45 p.m. to deal with an incident of alleged sexual assault of two teenage girls inside the mall.

Gary Godwin, communication liaison for the RCMP, said the incident involved girls aged 13 and 14 and two males in their 20s.

The girls told their story to mall security, who called police, and when the suspects realized they were being watched, they quickly left the mall in a vehicle driven by a third male.

But mall security was able to give police a good description of the vehicle and the three suspects along with the licence plate number.

"Police flooded the area with patrol cars and the vehicle was soon found abandoned in a snow bank close to Carney Street.

"As a result of persistent patrols, the three males were soon spotted running across 15th Avenue and were arrested without incident on Douglas Street just after 3 p.m.," said Godwin.

"Kudos to Pine Centre security for getting good descriptive information which made our job easier."

All three males are in custody, an investigation is continuing and charges of sexual assault are being contemplated, Godwin said.
