A 40-year-old Prince man faces a dozen charges following a short-lived attempt to make off with a three-ton cube van last week.

Benjamin Job Nathan Macrae, 41, faces one count each of robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, willfully obstructing a peace officer, mischief $5,000 or under and two counts of assault with a weapon.

MacRae was arrested Wednesday morning about 10 minutes after RCMP were called to the Civic Centre where a man allegedly stole the van from the driver at knifepoint. RCMP spotted the vehicle a few minutes later heading along Massey Drive and after allegedly ditching the vehicle and trying to flee on foot, the suspect was arrested.

MacRae remained in custody following a first appearance in court on Tuesday.
