Allard gets three years for sexual assault causing bodily harm

Already serving time for similar charges from a separate incident, a Prince George man was sentenced Thursday to three years in jail for sexual assault causing bodily harm for an attack early last year that began with a game of hide-and-seek.

Kelsey Alexander Allard, 28, was also issued a concurrent sentence of two years less a day for forcible confinement and assessed a $100 victim surcharge on both counts.

The sentences come two weeks after B.C. Supreme Court Justice Mary Humphries concluded the injuries the victim, a young woman who cannot be identified under a publication ban, suffered injuries consistent with with being held down by her wrist, being struck in the face and being dragged down the stairs.

A doctor's examination found no indication of forced sexual intercourse but the court was also told 70 per cent of victims with previous sexual experience show no signs and one explanation could be relaxation of the muscles because of alcohol.

During the trial the court heard the incident began after a night of drinking at a home Allard had been house sitting and the two decided to play hide and seek. Later they were on a foam mattress in the basement where Allard made unwanted advances.

When Allard tried to pin her to the mattress the woman struggled free and ran upstairs where Allard caught her once again, dragged her down two flights of stairs and back to the bed where he pinned her again, the court was told.

Allard is already serving a 23-month jail term, issued in early April, for sexually assaulting and choking a woman in an alleyway in May 2010 after a night of drinking at a downtown bar while he was out on bail for the Februrary 2010 assault.

Allard was also found guilty of breaching his bail by drinking alcohol and carrying a knife for that incident.
