Mark Oct. 8 on the calendar for an opportunity to see the federal election candidates go head-to-head.

The Citizen is teaming up with CKPG, the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, the B.C. Northern Real Estate Board and University of Northern B.C. for a Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies and Cariboo-Prince George debate on Oct. 8, beginning at 7 p.m. in UNBC's Canfor Theatre.

Moderated by UNBC political science professor and Citizen columnist Tracy Summerville, the event will afford nearly an hour per riding for questions, answers and debate between candidates.

Cariboo-Prince George candidates who have confirmed their attendance are: Liberal Tracy Calogheros, Independent Sheldon Clare, Christian Heritage's Adam De Kroon, NDP's Trent Derrick and Conservative Todd Doherty.

Green Party candidate Richard Jaques has not yet responded to the invitation.

PG-PR-NR candidates who have confirmed their attendance are: Green Party's Elizabeth Biggar and Liberal Matt Shaw.

Libertarian candidate Todd Keller is unable to attend, while NDP candidate Kathi Dickie and Conservative candidate Bob Zimmer have not confirmed whether they will attend.

For ongoing election coverage, The Citizen has set up an online home base.
