The man deceased in a case being treated by RCMP as a homicide was a 47-year-old Prince George resident who was found Wednesday in the vicinity of the Blackwater Road southwest of the city.

A 36-year-old man from Alberta was taken into custody in the Alberta Paradise Valley by Alberta police units and is currently being held at the RCMP detachment in Lloydminister, Alta.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Also case-related is a 47-year-old Prince George woman who was injured with respect to the homicide and flown to UHNBC for treatment.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday RCMP responded to a report of a deceased body found down the Blackwater Road.

Serious Crimes Investigative unit and two members of the police dog service were dispatched to assist in a crime search.

Cst. Gary Godwin, media liaison, said the location of the body made communications very difficult.

Police said Wednesday it appeared that the deceased victim had been stabbed, but added today that a cause of death cannot be confirmed until a forensic autopsy has been performed.
